Budweiser Stage
Toronto, you’re one of the very lucky cities that will be able to step back in time to the early days of reggaeton! Two of the genre's OGs, who started out as a powerful duo, are joining forces again for this limited tour. Arcangel and De La Ghetto are back together, at least for this night, at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto. The concert will take place on Saturday, August 31st. You already know that your chances of getting to see this duo together again live are pretty slim! Therefore, this is a date that you want to circle on your calendar.
Lunay will be in charge of warming up the crowd. Although he came along quite a bit after the reggaeton boom of the early 2000s, he still has that old-school flow, evident in songs like “No Te Quieren Conmigo.” He’s a perfect pick to ensure the crowd is ready to go once Arcangel and De La Ghetto hit the stage.

Arcangel and De La Ghetto started making music out of Puerto Rico back in 2004. The duo quickly rose up the ranks of reggaeton music with singles like “Sorpresa” or “Ven Pegate.” They were certainly two of the pioneers of the genre. That’s evident even today; a lot of the new generation still hits them up for collaborations, and having them sign their name on a track almost guarantees a hit. They bring a lot more engaging vocals compared to the newer generation. That’s one of the things that was a staple of old reggaeton. You can find their songs in a lot of the playlists that are titled “Reggeton Viejito.” That’s when you know that you’ve been around for a while, when your songs start becoming part of classic playlists.
As a duo they were officially together only for about two years from 2004 to 2006. After that they’ve come back together to record a few tracks, either of just them two or with other artists. That means that for this August 31st night in Toronto, there’s quite an extensive music library that they could pull from, at least from their individual work. Don’t be surprised if they take a popular song like Arcangel’s “La Jumpa” and have De La Ghetto chime in part of the song. That’s actually one of the coolest things about this show. It’s a chance to hear remixes and songs that maybe don’t feature both of their voices on the original track as part of an ad-lived live version! To be honest, the list of songs they sing together isn’t that long, so they gotta get creative to fill up the show.
