Fresh from a two-night stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live, their first televised performance in the US with their original lead singer, heroes of hard-rock Van Halen are coming to Molson Amphitheatre on Friday 7th August! The seasoned rockers are embarking on a tour of North America through spring and summer this year, marking the release of their DVD Tokyo Dome Live in Concert, and will be joined by the incredibly talented Kenny Wayne Shepherd during their stint!
One of the international best-selling bands of all time, Van Halen have sold more than 80 million records, charting the most number-one hits in the history of Billboard 's Mainstream Rock chart, and earning themselves a place in the top 20 best-selling bands in the history United States. Formed in Pasadena, California in 1972, they became a fundamental part of the Los Angeles music scene during the mid-1970s, and upon its release, their self-titled first album was acclaimed as both a hard rock and heavy metal album, reaching No. 19 on the Billboard pop music charts; one of rock's most commercially successful debuts. Ranked 7th on VH1's list of the top 100 hard rock artists of all time, they are one of only five rock bands that have had two studio albums sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S. Their 6th studio album, 1984, was the pinnacle of their commercial success, with the album's lead single, "Jump", becoming an international hit and their only single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
