Kelly Clarkson is praised as one of the most iconic voices of her generation. This Fall, she comes to Molson Amphitheatre August 28, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Kelly Clarkson began singing as a young girl in her school choir and was a waitress. She did not rise to national fame until she was crowned the first-ever winner of the popular television show American Idol. While 10,000 performers tried out for the show, Clarkson dominated the competition, eventually winning over Simon Cowell and ultimately taking home the title of American Idol. She also won a recording contract with RCA.
Kelly Clarkson released her very first full length album in 2003, which went double platinum in the U.S. and featured the hit songs “Miss Independent,” “The Trouble with Love Is” and “A Moment Like This.” The release of her second album further established Kelly as a national star with the hit songs “Walk Away,” “Since U Been Gone” and “Breakaway.”
Joining her on this tour is pop-rock act The Fray. Their hit song “Over My Head (Cable Car)” found a quick home on modern rock radio. By early 2006, it had crossed over to Top 40 chart status. The Fray’s next album and single, How to Save a Life, was heavily used in a promotional campaign for the TV series Grey’s Anatomy and quickly became one of 2006’s biggest singles.
