Singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer Lauryn Hill began her career as an actress, known for her starring role in the 1993 film Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit. A member of the hip hop group the Fugees, Hill's musical breakthrough came in 1994 with the release of their debut album, The Score, which sold over six million copies in the US. Hill's first and only solo studio album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, was the most critically acclaimed album of 1998. The album launched at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold over eight million copies in the US, launching the singles "Doo Wop (That Thing)", "Ex-Factor" and "Everything Is Everything". Hill also won a record-breaking ten nominations and five awards at the 41st Grammy Awards for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, including Album of the Year, Best R&B Album, Best R&B Song, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best New Artist.
